To create urban service systems in small and medium-sized cities of the global south that are adapted to the local ecological and sociocultural context and that are socially and politically acceptable and sustainable. ->> Budget: CHF 16 Mio

This project aims to investigate different ways to improve the efficiency and equity of the electricity system in South Africa. ->> Budget: CHF 4 Mio

To establish demonstration and research facilities for the treatment and valorization of organic waste in low- and middle-income countries. These demonstration plants should serve medium to larger communities and cover the entire value chain, i.e., collection, treatment and the use of products as biogas, digestate or compost. ->> Budget: CHF 2 Mio

This project aims to develop a reliable method that can estimate volumes and accumulation rates of faecal sludge at larger scales in cities of low- and middle-income countries. ->> Budget: CHF 650'000.-

The objective of this study is to set up urban observatories in secondary cities in order to analyze the changes to which these cities are subjected and to draw international comparisons to identify global phenomena.
